The FW23 collection "Luxor" from Rick Owens is inspired by the Egyptian city

Inspired by the ancient city of Luxor, in Egypt, the new collection is theatricality and exaggerated proportions, with an aftertaste of war-related sadness.

The now customary Rick Owens winter appointment was held at the Palais de Tokyo. The designer presented the Fall/Winter 2023 collection called "Luxor" in honor of the ancient Egyptian city and, perhaps, also as an adjective of his new very luxurious line.
Theatricality - denominated by the made-up faces of the models - and exaggerated proportions dominate a show opened by Tyrone Dylan, the American designer's muse, who appears with bare chest and cape, shorts and very high boots, all rigorously in black. The gothic style, now a trademark, is accentuated even more by jackets and coats with shoulder pads, geometric patterns and exaggerated puffers. About the collection, Rick explains: “The vastness and grandeur (of Luxor) meets Cecil B. De Mille's fantasy Egypt in the film The Ten Commandments, which i love to watch at night when I train listening to Brutalismus 3000 blaring in the my headphones. Above all, i like to mix real life and fantasy. And when i measure how insignificant our contemporary discomforts are in the face of these centuries of history, this comforts me".
